Scope and Content
1) James Underwood and James Carter, Churchwardens, and Stephen Raymond and Robert Topham, Overseers of the Poor. All of Potton 2) John Wright of St. Neots, Hunts., yeoman Agreement between 1) and 2) for the maintenance of the poor in the Workhouse according to the following terms: - 2) to have the care of all such poor persons as shall be in the workhouse for 3 years from Easter Monday next (21 April), subject to inspection of 1). He to keep them sweet and clean, and to provide good, wholesome and sufficient meat and drink, viz: good household bread and cheese, good small beer, and butchers meat three times a week. Also to be responsible for washing and mending of both woollen and linen clothes, and to provide materials (new leather excepted) for mending of shoes. - 2) to be paid 2s. per head per week for every pauper in the workhouse, and the Churchwardens and Overseers to pay him monthly. He to have all profits of work and labour done in the Workhouse with materials provided by 1). - 2) to deliver up all furniture and furnishings at the end of the term in good condition, reasonable wear and use to be allowed. - both parties to give one calendar month's notice of intention to terminate agreement, upon forfeit of one month's pay - Expence of illness and burials to be paid by 1) - Every person receiving collection out of the said workhouse by the said officers to receive not more than 1s. 6s. a week Witnesses: J.
