    Wife of John Groom, a soldier in Minorca, found begging in the parish of St. Mary Arches, Exeter. She was married at Manchester and said that her husband had told her his legal place of settlement was at Shillington, as he had lived there always with his friends before he had entered the army. Endorsed as a vagrant's pass, giving the names of the places through which she passed on her way from Exeter to Shillington, viz: St. Martins in Wilts [i.e. Salisbury] 11 May 1754; Staines, 17 May 1754; St. Margaret's, Westminster, 17 May 1754; [Barnet - crossed out] Ridge, Herts., 20 May 1754.
