The family at one time lived at the Post Office in Ridgmont and his mother, Maria Sharpe, is given as the Post Mistress in the 1881 census. His father, John Sharpe, a tailor, is given in the 1871 census, but would appear to have died by 1881. 'John A' presumable 'Jack' is given as aged seven in the 1871 census, but does not appear in 1881.
  • Scope and Content
The slides in the box were numbered 1 to 93, but number 21 was missing at the time of deposit, and was apparently not in the set when it was copied in 1982. All the slides are undated unless stated. If a date can be deduced this is shown in brackets.

  • A set of transparencies, slightly cropping the original views, were prepared in 1982 by the County Council Photographic Unit and the corresponding number is given in brackets at the end of each catalogue entry.
