- Scope and ContentLetter bundled up with the deeds from George, 4th Duke of Marlborough at Marlborough House to the Duke of Bedford's agent Robert Palmer in Great Russell Street "I am at last determined to part with my Bedfordshire Estate, and as I think it would be a pity, that any one should have it, but the D. of Bedford, I hope you will not think one hundred thousand pounds too much for it. I believe it is too little, and I should be very glad to get as good a purchase in Bedfordshire; However you will do what you think best for the D. of Bedford's interest, & let me know your determination, as soon as you can. One thing I forgot to mention, which is, that I must desire that the money may be pay'd immediately on the completion of the purchase. Be so good as to direct your answer to Marlborough House and my Porter will forward it to me by the Post. P.S. Lady Caroline desires me to say that Mrs.Gale's Daughter has been with her, and she has told her to call upon you for her mother's pension, which by some mistake or other has not been pay'd. There are two years due, and the poor woman makes herself very unhappy about it".
