    Complaint of the Guardians of the Poor of Biggleswade that Charles Cooper of Henlow had deserted his wife Mary Ann Cooper and family and that Mary Ann Cooper was unable to work or maintain herself and her children, Charles King and Emma Elizabeth Cooper. Letter from John Montague Burgoyne to the Chief Constable stating that Charles Cooper had enlisted with the 16th Regiment at Kempston Barracks and that as a soldier could not be summoned on a warrant. The case would have to be reported to the Secretary of State for War and Cooper would then have stoppages from his pay made to the Guardians of the Poor. Fine £1.0.0
