Letter from Thomas Sworder of Hertford to George Browne, secretary of Midland Railway Company: "I am the owner of the The Rising Sun Public House at Luton, Beds which you require & which I understand is numbered 58 in the deposited Plan and subject to a mortgage. I am the owner in fee simple. That Public House and premises are let to Wm.Anstee, John Cook and Benjamin Bennett the Younger for 10 years from 29 Septr 1862 & are in the occupation of their undertenant. I require one thousand pounds for my sole Interest in the Property and I have approached Messrs Jackson & Son of Hertford to act for me in treating for the same"
