    These charities were established as follows: Under will of Wm Nichol, dated 1707 - £400 legacy to purchase land at Thurleigh. £5 per annum to the pastor; remainder to poor of the church proportionately according to necessity of persons, agreeable to trustees. Under will of John Taylor, 1735 - left estate in Colmworth and Eaton Socon. Half the rent to be paid to the pastor the other half to the poor of the church - quarter of the latter half could be paid to the poor of the congregation 'of sobriety and good report, though not members of the church'. Under will of Eliz Priest, 1784 - £400 legacy - to be invested and interest to be used, i.e. £4 to the pastor p.a., £1 to the widow of a pastor, and if no widow to a poor minister of the gospel, and £1 to the poor of the church; also £4 p.a. to the pastor of the Cotton End church, and £1 to the widow of a pas tor there or if no widow to a poor minister of the gospel. Under will of Stephen Odell, 1788 - left land at Goldington. The rent to be for the benefit of the minister and poor of the church in such shares and manner as the trustees decide. Under the will of Martha Furness, 1794 - left £400 invested stock and a house in St. Cuthberts - interest from the former was to be distributed to the poor of the church and the rent from the house was to be used for the same purpose except £5 p.a. which was to be paid to the minister. Under the will of Richard Furness - £150 legacy to be invested and the interest used to purchase bread for distribution to the poor of the congregation from April to September each year. This money was applied with money from Costin charity to pur- chase property in Cople in 1815. Under the will of Jn Costin, 1805 - £180 legacy was used to purchase property at Cople - money distributed among poor members at discretion of trustees."
