From: Thomas Sworder, Hertford; To: Charles S. Benning “Myself to White I send Dr assignment and will thank you to get a release of the property in it from Burr & Crabb without delay. The Pche money is £1150 as you will see but as I am under Covt in the lease of the windmill granted to Hicks to lay out £100 on the mill and as that £100 so laid out has enhanced the property to that extent and raised it from £1050 to £1150 – I think you had better put in the deed by which Burr & Crabb release it that in conson of £1050 – to them for they release the leasehold Este at Stanstead Essen and I cannot afford to pay Hicks £100 and pay it once again to Burr & Crabb. Please attend to this immediately as I expect to complete the matter next week".
