Created as a Board School in 1877, becoming a Council School in 1903, CP in 1946 and a Lower School on comprehensive reorganisation. The school was previously known as Marston Shelton Board School (19th century) and Marston Shelton Council School.
Shelton Lower School closed on 31 August 2025, and had been empty for some time due to low numbers on roll.
