(iii) Matthew Mayles and Edward Paine of Stotfold, blacksmith
On the marriage of William Burton and Johanna Mayles and for £500:
(a) messuage in Stotfold with croft;
(b) 1 acre abutting E on Stotfold Marsh;
(c) close of 3 acres;
(d) 10 acres in the common fields of Stotfold as follows:
- in Marsh Field: in Marsh Furlong; in Duck Puddle Furlong;
- in High Field: at Ball Green; on Howes Shott;
- in Standhill Field: abutting on Harts Hedge and on the Rushes; and in Allen’s Bush Furlong;
- in Rey Field: in Ansell Shott; in Mill Path; in Foxhole Street; in Barnsdale Shott; in Nether and Upper Stone Shotts;
- in Sow Mead abutting: NW on Long Field late in occupation of Edward Burton of Stotfold, blacksmith, now of Edward Paine and which were devised by Edward Burton to his nephew Edward Burton of Gamlingay [Cambridgeshire] deceased and by him to his brother William Burton;
(e) 1 acre of meadow in West Mead, Gamlingay in occupation of Robert Willowes, formerly the estate of Ste.Apthorp of Gamlingay, grocer; devised by him to Edward Burton, son of John Burton and thus descended to his brother William Burton
To the use of William Burton for life and Johanna Mayles for life (in lieu of all jointure, dower and thirds) and then to the heirs of William Burton
