containing: - Baptisms 1559, 1562-1589, 1592, 1595, 1597-1652, 1653-1702 - Births 1653-1660 - Marriages 1563-1579, 1587, 1597-1702 - Burials 1562-1583, 1597-1702 The register was apparently copied out from the former [paper] volume in about 1599 and continued thereafter; it includes numerous memoranda, mostly transcribed in full in BPRS Vol.38 pp.A52-53 as follows: - [front flyleaf] note on casting the Great Bell at Baldock [Hertfordshire] by Myles Graye, bellfounder in Jun 1651 “though the figures on the Bell bee 1615” signed by the Vicar and Churchwardens; - [among entries 1597] note of induction of Richard Weaver MA as vicar, 5 Nov 1597 and on his reading the Articles; - [among entries 1653] note of approval of Henry Rogers as “parish register” for Stotfold, signed by W.Bedford JP, 22 Sep 1653; - [among entries] note of collections for charitable briefs 1657, 1661; - [among entries] notes of payment of mortuary fees (usually 10 shillings) on burial of substantial parishioners, 1684-1702
