  • Scope and Content
From: Thomas Sworder, Hertford; To: John Everitt "I have read your letter of 24 & am so hurt & dispirited by my nephew's Conduct towards me that I have not strength to give an answer to Mr.Bigg's proposition so that it must stand over till Mr.Hawks' return. I may say this however that I cannot let Mr.Bigg have all my composition to be rid of the Guarantors as I want it for other purposes. I know nothing about thre £1,200 due from Mr.Medland & I think the account of the Bank shd be investigated to see if other sums are improperly charged & I thought they had more security. I thought they had the Deeds of the Piece of Ground just behind Bedford Road Brewery. What does waiting upon £849 mean? I forget the Guarantee said to be given by me on 7th Oct 1861. I will look for Stanner's Deeds. To another subject. I fancy that Public House & that acre of land ought to pull a very large price from Mr.Leigh. Have Notices been served on the tenants to quit & to pay rents to mortgagees.
