- Scope and ContentFrom: Thomas Sworder, Luton; To: Thomas Sworder, Hertford "I will see after Alice & meet her at the 6.30 train tomorrow. William Medland has been here & will be sure to be over tomorrow. He was coming yesterday to the Exhibition had not the wet weather interfered. The wet weather made £50 difference in out takings. The Exhibition interfered with business for a day or two but I hope it will turn out for the benefit of business rather than otherwise & also be the means of getting rid of the old Brewery. I have not been able to get in the money for Burr & Crabb the money that I had set apart for that I hope to get in next week. I will let you know directly it is paid & I am only sorry that it was not paid before for your sake as well as my own. I have had to pay about £1,100 for Charles on the Dowlais account, this has prevented me paying Burr, all the parties down there directly Robert left having required to be paid".
