From: William Medland, 5 Harborn Place, Ramsgate; To: Thomas Sworder, Hertford "Your welcome note arrived this morning and accept my best thanks for turning the Pigg into a Christian. Well now about the Insurance. My Life for another £300 as he now holds a Policy for £1,000 and another for £300 but if you are not satisfied with my proposal please write me the amount you would wish me to Insure for it had better be in my own name I think and I had better Insure again with The Law Union. Upon hearing from you as to the amount I will write up to the office at once. I have a good deal of the needful locked up just at the present time in one matter and another and this you have kindly got me will be very useful. So much for business. With the exception of enclosing you my receipt for Insurance in the City of London we may proceed to have a chat before going any further about this place it is delightful, the weather maginficent and in fact quite the place to restore those poor hands. What can I say more to induce you to run down. I should so enjoy you all being here. I hope to remain a fortnight but I always dread the post arriving as there is sure to be more to do at home when you are not there. Tom, Ellen & their chicks are very well and they go to Broadstairs on Friday when Mrs.Sworder Caroline & Lucy join them. He has brought a bag full of Brewery Books so make yourself comfortable and he has done a wonderful good business lately and continues to do so therefore you cannot do less than come down and congratulate him. Ally asked after Ted & Tom this morning he does want to see them so bad. I hope poor Miss Robinson is better pray give our kind love to her. All Luton & Dunstable appear to be here. P.S. It is worth all the money to see our dear Boys enjoy themselves".
