  • Scope and Content
From: William Medland, Dunstable; To: Thomas Sworder, Hertford "We were sorry to hear such a poor account of your dear wife but I trust by this time she is getting all right and the little one thriving. I am thankful to say my dear wife is getting on very nicely altho her cough is still troublesome. I enclose you a letter received from Robert which will both amuse & please you I fancy. Is there any chance of Carter leaving your House as I am anxious that Miss Robinson should give up Gin by that I mean his House of course as I am sure she is rented too highly and the difference will enable her to have many little comforts. I thought if there was a chance she should give notice this Christmas to leave her present abode your House would suit her exactly and you will find her a good tenant please let me have a line on thus point. Beer This goes on well very much praised. What dreadful weather. I have had such a long journey today and thought a little rain would have made it agreeable as it did nothing else all the way, consequently I don't feel over bright tonight. P.S. Tom only had a slight bilious attack he is quite well now".
