- Scope and ContentFrom: Thomas Sworder, Luton; To: Thomas Sworder, Hertford "I am sorry to say I cannot yet get any money in hand. I have to pay it away as fast as I get it. This is owing to my having to carry on a larger business with less Capital than I carried on a small one besides which I have had to pay for alteration and additions to the Brewery to accomodate [sic] the extended trade. I have just head from Messrs Hillyer & Fenwick, they will give me an answer the beginning of next week as to whether Mr.Donaldson entertains the Partnership. I hope they have been considering whether they can at once advance £10,000. I have been kept in with an attack of diarrhoea brought on I suppose by the hot weather. I thought perhaps you would have been over before this. The weather has been fine enough for getting about".
