- Scope and ContentFrom: Thomas Sworder, Luton; To: Thomas Sworder, Hertford "I have just heard from Robert he did not see Mr.Raws & his friend as they were off to London again without his knowledge. John however left a note to tell him "Alls right" so I suppose Raws is willing to take the share & pay £4,000. I think it will be as well for us to meet at your office & have an agreement drawn up if required. I was quite disappointed on Saturday at not being able to write Benning that £5,000 would be paid on the 1st May. I saw him yesterday & he says Messrs Burr & Crabb will be here next week but I told him to get them to delay coming till I could let then know when the money is likely to be forthcoming. A friend of mine who had a mortgage on Gray's property said yesterday that he was told last Michas that £3,000 would be paid off this last March but he has been put off. I quite think this sum is due to him from Burrs & he has promised to let me have the first offer of it when pd off. I fancy he has lent it on personal security. I have not yet had an answer from Mr.Leigh. Trade is much better this month. Last week the sales amounted to £500. I suppose I shall hear from John or Raws tomorrow"
