  • Scope and Content
From: Thomas Sworder, Luton; To: Thomas Sworder, Hertford “Messrs Morland & Godfrey are to make the appointment as I dare say they have to meet other parties at Lilley Hoo & I am afraid there won’t be time to let you know the day of meeting. There is no Interest due as I serve a house on the property & the rent of that is let off against the Interest. The reason they wish me to go to the Hoo is perhaps that I may agree as to the time of giving up the house. If you could come over on Tuesday next it would be as well as Messrs Burr & C are anxious to make arrangements about the charges on the property. They are here today, but if you can come over on Tuesday I will get Benning to meet you so that we may go into the matter. It appears C.Burr has not been paid off & that they want a mortgage for £15,000 in his name. I should not be surprised if some satisfactory arrangement can be come to respecting the settlement. I am much obliged by the offer of the £600 on Coleman’s property if you could let me have it without inconvenience it would reduce my account. I hope to get it down considerably this month. Perhaps Morland & Godfrey merely wish the Deed of Further Charge delivered up. They have sent no Drt Deed of Mortgage.
