    Report of PC Thomas Woods stationed at BlunhamHe saw William Smith fishing in the River Ivel in a meadow belonging to Lord Cowper. He had 2 roach beside him. When asked if he knew it was 'close season' he replied that Mrs Elliott, where he was staying, gave him permission. When Mrs Elliott was questioned she said she rented the water off Lord Cowper and she gave Smith permission to fish. Emma Elliott, Landlady of the Horseshoes at Blunham said she gave people who stayed with her permission to use the Ouse but not the Ivel. She said Lord Cowper gave her permission to let people do this. She had nothing in writing. Fine 1/- Costs 9/6
