- TitleCorrespondence concerning the land where the Sexton's cottage was situated. Land bought by Mr.E.Green, who disputed that he was under liability for the upkeep of the church. A study of the will of Mr.A.Fossey revealed that there was no reference to copyhold land, but £100 was given for the purpose of building the sexton's cottage. Rent was to be paid for the upkeep and repair of the cottage. Fossey did not own the land, so it seemed unclear how Mr.E.Fossey and Mr.W.Bigg derived the title. Ecclesiastical Commissioners agreed with Mr.Green's contention that he had no liability in respect of chancel repairs by virtue of his ownership of the site.
