- TitleInformation of Superintendent William Bedlow, also an Inspector appointed to carry out the provisions of the Sale of Food and Drugs Act 1875 who had purchased 3/4 lb of coffee from Elizabeth Cluncaster, wife of Edward Cluncaster, Grocer of Beeston. He gave her notice that he would have the coffee analysed by Dr Stevenson, medical Doctor of Guys Hospital in the County of Middlesex. Dr Stevenson's Report said the sample contained parts of foreign ingredients, i.e. 50% chicory.
