- Scope and ContentFrom: Thomas Sworder, Luton; To: Thomas Sworder, Hertford "I went to Woburn yesterday & say [sic] Mr.Greene but as he was obliged to go out he could not get the Agreements ready for signature yesterday, but he is to send them so that they may be signed on Saturday. I saw several of the titles & as far as I can judge they seem to be good holding titles. Mr.Greene said he was quite satisfied with them he had in fact got Mtge deeds ready for Bennett's signature. All objections to the title are not to be waived by taking possn. Mr.Greene agreed to this, but he would not consent to give me any other title than Mr.B. took. I saw the valuation of the Houses included in the intended Mortgage to Mr.Greene, which he had made. They were valued at more than I have to give for them. The purchase money is reduced by £400 as Mr.B. was under an agreement to sell a Close of land at Houghton adj'g the 5 Bells there. Brickwood says he would on no account put up Houses in Luton at the present time, he thinks they will pay well for keeping. I hope the Cholera is not so bad now at Hertford it it is you had better pay me another visit. Little Fanny has left her shoes behind. I will send them the first opportunity. PS I have written to Nash to ask him whether there is any chance of selling property at anything like the fair value & told him to let you know".
