On the front cover there is a Morocco label with hand tooled gold lettering inscribed: KEMPSTON / REGISTER, 1789, / JA:WHITE, / GEO. SANDERS / CHURCHWARDS. The memoranda are as follows: - statistical analysis of register entries, 1570-1851, with names of clergy signing the registers etc., compiled c.1818 and continued to 1851; - list of incumbents and patrons of the living, 1219-1913; - lists of confirmation candidates (names and ages) 1849-1873; - note on pews belonging to Rev.Edmond Williamson, clerk, Lord of the Manor of Kempston, 1824; - vestry minute regarding parish assessment, 1837; - note about alterations to chancel and pews and new stone staircase to vestry from south porch, 1837 - note on discovery of a corpse during repairs to the south porch, 14 Nov 1840; - note on erection of Church End schools, with list of subscribers etc., 1845; - accounts for improvements to the church, with notes on work carried out, 1852; - notes on erection of school at Kempston Up-End, with list of subscribers and accounts, 1854; - account of the restoration of the church, 1864, with press cutting from the Bedfordshire Times; - subscription lists and accounts for erection of St.John’s church, 1868, with report of consecration from newspaper of 27 May 1868; - report of burial of Rev.H.J.Williams, 1879; - report from the Bedfordshire Standard 18 Aug 1888 of the induction of Rev.Henry Baugh; - notes on the restoration of the church bells, 1893; - (at back) note of appointment of William Brooks as parish clerk by G.O.Fenwicke, minister, 25 Dec 1832
