  • Title
    Report of Charles Heathfield, Labourer of Campton. He was by Campton Church when he heard one of the Church bells ringing. When he looked through the Church window he saw George Henry Hare, of Campton, with one of the bell ropes in his hand. Shortly afterwards, Hare left by the Chancel door and went to Mrs Wilson's public house. He appeared the worse for drink. Report of William Stevens, Sexton of the Church at Campton. He was passing Campton Rectory when he heard one of the bells ringing. When he reached the church he saw George Henry Hare coming out of the Churchyard. He appeared the worse for drink. The Chancel door was left open for the Rev G M Osborn to go in and out. He had not given Hare permission to go in and ring the Church bell. Report of Ann Balls, single woman living with her friends at Shefford. She had gone to Campton Churchyard to look at a grave. Hare followed her into the Churchyard and stood near the Chancel door. He was the worse for drink. Shortly after she left the graveyard she heard one of the church bells ring. Fine 20/-. Costs 19/-.
