The following memorandum is written on the flyleaf: Peace Celebrations at Haynes On Wednesday 29th day of June 1814 a Jubilee was held at Haynes to commemorate the return of Peace after more than twenty years of incessant War and arduous Conflict. May the Peace be as permanent as the War has been Glorious. Four hundred of the inhabitants were most plentifully and gratefully entertained at a Dinner given at Deadmans Cross from the generous contribution of the principal parishioners and others. The day was passed in uninterrupted harmony. A very respectable Band of Music procured from Bedford attended on this happy Occasion. Dancing both amongst the higher as well as lower orders, with various well enjoy'd Sports concluded the Day. Anthy Dauvert, Vicar
