Recites that Thomas Sheppard senior of Maulden, gent, bequeathed in his will [date not given] £20 to the use of the Poor of Maulden Also recites: Conveyance (lease and release) 26/27 July 1699 i) John Allen of Silvester alias Silsoe in Flitton, innholder ii) Amphillis Sheppard, daughter of Thomas Sheppard iii) John Pomfret, clerk, Edward Hill, yeoman, Matthias Tompkins, grocer, Ralph Kilby, bricklayer, John Betts, yeoman, and the said William Jennings, all of Maulden (Trustees) - a close (1a.) called Spinney Hole, then in occ. of Rich. Smith :N. land of the Earl of Kent :S. land of John Caton :E. Broom Field Also that Nicholas Corbett of Ampthill, gent., by his Will dated 3 November 1693 bequeathed £50 to the Poor of Maulden. Also recites: Conveyance (lease and release) 2/3 October 1700 i) Michael Arnold of Ampthill, gent ii) the said John Pomfret, Edward Hill senior, Yeoman, Francis Child, John Hill, yeoman, Matthias Tompkins, Ralph Kilby, Thomas Field, yeoman, William Jennings, John Webb, brick-layer, John Wardall junior, and Edward Hill junior, all of Maulden (Trustees) - messuage in Flitton in occ. of Edward Hayes, and a pightle adjoining (2a.) :S. house of Thos. Beaumont :E. ground of John Manfield :N. the glebe land :W. the common street. NOW Conveyance by 1) to 2) of above properties, now in occ. of Rev. Philip Birt, vicar of Flitton, on trusts for placing poor children of Maulden to school, and for application to the use of the Poor. Witnesses: Judith Smart, Henry Rogers, Jas.Price, and Wm.Cox.
