    This order requests the churchwardens and overseers of Eaton Socon to remove Thomas and Elizabeth to Abbotsley. The examination of Thomas is to be found in QVP4 page 9. A full transcript of the examination is given below: 'Bedfordshire to wit: The examination of Thomas Standford at present residing in the parish of Eaton Socon in the said county, touching the place of his last legal settlement, taken on Oath before us, two of his Majesty’s Justices of the Peace for the said County, this fifth day of December in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Twenty nine. Who, upon his oath, saith I was born at the parish of Eynesbury in the County of Huntingdon in the year 1791 – In 1805 I was bound apprentice to Mr William Stratton of the parish of Abbotsley in the County of Huntingdon tailor by Indentures prepared by Mr Wells of Eynesbury. I served a little better than three years under the Indentures at Abbotsley when trade was slack and my father took me away – By Indenture dated the 22nd day of February 1809 – I was apprenticed to Edmund Dear of Southill in the County of Bedford tailor to serve from the 27th day of January 1805 for 7 years – I served three years at Southill he was a certificated man from Northill – It was the last three years of the term though the term commenced in 1805 I did not serve the beginning of the time – After my time was out I went to journey work but never for a year – before I left Stratton my master gave up my Indentures to my father and they were destroyed I saw them destroyed – they were not destroyed until after I was bound afresh to Mr Dear – I don’t remember how the Indentures were destroyed – There was only one Indenture I have never paid more than Four Pounds two shillings for Rent – I have never done any act since whereby I could gain any subsequent settlement – I was married the 5th day of November 1827 at Eaton to Elizabeth Bell widow but I have no children.
