Admin/biog history
Edward Hull was born at Keysoe in Bedfordshire and baptised in the parish church there on 28 December 1823. By 1827 the family was living in Pertenhall and many of Edward's early works were views of this village. Encouraged by his brother William, also an artist, he took up sketching and later went to London, where he obtained work as an illustrator and made many sketching journeys for the Illustrated London News, besides doing work for other publishers. He exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1849 and later years. His great sense of humour was one of his chief characteristics. By 1897 he was living in Sharnbrook, Bedfordshire, still very much an active artist, and he died in this village and was buried in the churchyard in February 1906.
