    Information and Summons of Sophia Elliman, singlewoman of Old Warden against Alfred Atterbury, Baker of Haynes, as the father of her bastard child born on 16 March 1883. He had brought bread to the house for 2 or 3 years. When the child was born he said 'There you must swear it I know it is mine'. Report of Emma Elliman, widow and mother of Sophia. When the child was born she saw Atterbury and said 'The child belongs to you'. He said 'The child is mine but I shall not pay anything for it until you have swore it'. He also said 'I will pay all expenses' About a week later he asked Emma 'Whether the child was alive?'. When she replied 'Yes' he said 'Then I wish it were dead'. Charged to pay 1/9 per week until the child was 14yrs and Costs of £1.0.0
