Information and Summons of Esther Bygraves of Stotfold against George Bew, Labourer of Leytonstone, Essex the father of her bastard child. During the 12 calendar months following the birth, 30 July 1879, Bew had paid maintenance for the child but had then written to Esther, the letter enclosing 10/-, to say that he would not pay another penny and 'then you will be satisfied with people telling you lies about me'. He was charged to pay 1/6 per week until the child was 14 yrs.
