    Indenture of Feoffment Parties (i) George White of Wootton, yeoman, son and heir of George White, late of Wootton, deceased, by Anne his late wife, also deceased, who was one of the daughters of John Kampkin, late of Wootton, deceased and grand-child of Richard Kampkin, also deceased. (ii) John Bates of Wootton, labourer, and his wife Elizabeth. Recitals: none Operative part Feoffment (grant, bargain, sell, release, enfeoff, and confirm, from (i), in consideration of £22 10s. paid by (ii), to (ii) of: (a) cottage or tenement situate in Wootton now in the occupation of John Bates with a yard and an orchard adjoining thereto, containing together ½ ac., (land of (i) on or towards the S.E. parts thereof, ground of Spencer Shrewe lying more to the E., the Highway towards the N. and the common fields towards the S.W. parts thereof), together with a ditch round the same and all appurtenances. Habendum: to (ii) for their lives and the longer liver of them, remainder to the use and behoof of JB his heirs and assigns absolutely for ever. Usual covenants by Feoffor. Seal (on pendant tag and papered) : round, red wax, design mark of (i) on foot fold. Dorse: memorandum of delivery of quiet and peaceable possession, livery and seisin of (a) to JB in the presence of Thomas Cheyne, Andrew Ashby (mark), Francis Peak (mark); sealed and delivered in front of the same witnesses; memorandum of receipt by (i), (mark); and inscribed 'Bates his writeings'.
