Scope and Content
Detailed disbursements At beginning, reverse end, and occasionally in accounts: receipts for money for lace made, boys' work etc.
At end: names of [overseers?] 1784-1806; and of overseers and churchwardens, 1807-16 & 1840-76; and of overseers, 1877-1904.
Disbursements often include things bought for the workhouse including: wheat, pork and cheese. A hog or two hogs are also bought for the workhouse and money later paid for the slaughter of the hog. Repairs to the workhouse sometimes feature and the chimney is swept. From about 1801 to 1803 the number of people in the workhouse is mentioned and ranges from 12 to 18.
There is an itemised bill from John Pulley for attending the sick and lotions and potions etc for April 1810.
The apprenticing of a boy to a cordwainer is recorded.
Sarah Rowney is paid 3s 'for bleeding Ashpole with six leeches' 11 July-8 Aug 1808. Bleeding with leeches is also mentioned 13 Aug - 10 Sept 1810 and Rebeccah Moore is paid 16 shillings for 8 leeches in December 1810.
