- TitleReport of William Clark, Labourer of Langford who went into the Plough Inn on the London Road in Biggleswade to have a pint of beer. He had 3/4 pints over about 1 and a half hours. Joseph Loveridge, James Loveridge and Cornelius Loveridge, all Gypsies, came into the Public House and chatted together with Clark who stood a pint of beer. Clark left by the back way and met one of the men (the oldest) who immediately knocked Clark down with his fist. The other two came up and struck him with their fists while he was on the ground. When he got up he found blood flowing from his head and nose. 8 Aug 1883 Cornelius Loveridge Fined 15/-. Costs 16/6. 29 August 1883 each were fined £1.0.0 with costs of £1.0.0 or 1 month.
