  • Title
    Report of Lizzie Dear, wife of William Dear Labourer of Arlesey. She was standing at her door when Martha Pike came up to her and spat in her eye without speaking. When Dear asked why, Pike said because Dear had pushed up against her at the feast on Saturday night. Dear said she couldn't help if she did because it was so crowded but she did not remember pushing her. Pike then put up her hands and pushed Dear away from her door saying ' You B---- I'll strike you'. Report of Charlotte Armond who was in Mrs Dear's house said that Martha Pike had spat in Mrs Dear's face because she claimed that Mrs Dear had pushed her down at the feast. Report of Mary Ann Dear who said that when they were going down to the feast Lizzie Dear had bumped against Martha Pike. Discharged on payment of 8/-.
