  • Title
Report of Wallace Clark, Labourer of Arlesey who was a member of the Arlesey Drum and Fife Band. The Band were marching up towards Arlesey Siding when they saw William Thompson. He was standing at his door with his horse and cart but when he saw the Band coming he backed the horse and cart straight across the road preventing them from passing. Clark spoke to Thompson about it and he called Clark a 'b---- liar' and struck Clark in the face with his fist. When Thompson started swearing the Band turned back and went into Arlesey. The Band were not playing. Walter Cox of Arlesey who was also in the Band reported that Wallace Clark had accused Thompson of deliberately moving the horse across the road which Thompson denied calling Clark a 'b--- liar' and then hitting him in the face. William Thompson (Son) reported that he was in the house when he heard the Band. He went out to the horse which had become unsettled by the band but couldn't hold it. His father came to help him and his mother. He said that Clark called him and his father a 'b----- liar' and that father then 'clacked' Clark on the cheek. Fine 6d. Costs 10/6
