    Deed of Power of Attorney secured to the Gift by thin strip of parchment sewn on left hand sides of documents) Deed of Gift (dedi, concessi et hac presenti carta mea confirmavi') from Matthew Skerne, vicar of the church of Wootton, to Richard Eldom, William Fowke, Thomas Fowke and Thomas Rolle, of: (a) all those ('illa') lands and tenements, meadows, pastures ('pascua pasturas'), rents and services with all appurtenances, which he lately had by the gift and feoffment of John Homwode, now deceased, in the vills and in the fields of Wootton and Kempston. Habendum: to RE etc. their heirs and assigns to be held etc. (see X740/4). Witnesses: William Palfote, John Palle senior, John Elyce, John Palle junior, William Elyce etal. Dated at Wootton, 10 Mar 35 Hen. VI. Seal (on pendant tag): round, red wax, part missing (chipped on top edge), good impression Deed of Power of Attorney by Matthew Skerne appointing John Paxton as his attorney to deliver full and peaceable possession and seisin in (a) to the donees RE etc. Witnesses as Gift. Seal (on tongue): round, red wax, large parts of two sides missing, good impression, design as seal on Gift.
