    Deed of gift, with warranty, (dedi, concessi et hac presenti carta mea confirmavi) from John Ofthehul of Wootton Keeley ('Culey') to John Homwode, Matthew Skerne, vicar of the parish church of Wootton, and John Fouk of the same, of all his lands and tenements, meadows (prata), pastures (pascuas et pasturas), rents and services with all their appurtenances (which he lately had, with Hugh Pays, by the gift and feoffment of Thomas Homwode of 'Botende' [deceased according to the Letters of Attorney below]) in the vills, fields, and meadows of Wootton and Kempston. Habendum: to JH etc. their heirs and assigns, to be held of the chief lords of those fees by the services thence owed and by right accustomed. Warranty clause by JO: standard (contra omnes gentes). Witnesses: Reginald Loryng, John Payn, Richard Crowele, Thomas Skerne, John Crowle and many others. Dated at Wootton on the feast of the birth of Our Lord 15 Henry VI (1436/7). Seal (on pendant tag consisting of silver of re-used parchment, evidence of writing at edge): round, red wax, almost complete, clear impression (slightly rubbed), design as shown. Deed of Power of Attorney by John Ofthehul appointing Richard Crowle as his attorney to deliver full seisin to the donees JH etc. in all the lands and tenements etc. as above. Dated at Wootton as the Gift. Seal (on pendant tag consisting of sliver of re-used parchment, evidence of writing at edge): round, red wax, almost complete, clear impression (slightly rubbed); Seal (on tongue, with tie, secured to the tag of the Gift by a knotted sliver of parchment): round, red wax, half missing, impression as Gift, design as Gift.
