    Conveyance (Deed of Bargain & Sale enrolled): Francis Crawley of Someries in Luton, esq. ( son & heir of Sir Frances Crawley of Someries, knt., decd.), Christr. Rotheram of London, esq., & Eliz. dau. & sole heir of Sir Thos. Rotheram of Someries, knt., decd.,to Sam. Sternell alias Starling, jun., brewer of London, & wife Mary; for 1080. - Gillham's Farm, a close adjoining cont. 2 ac., a close of pasture adjoining the house on the other side cont. 2 ac.; New Pasture (Close) cont. 8 ac.; a close of arable adjoining cont. 6 ac.; a close of arable lying near the grounds of Sir Rob. Napeir cont. 26 ac.; a close of arable called Sandpitt cont. 20 ac.; a close of arable cont. 50 ac. called Great Hawtes; a close of arable lying near to Weekley's house cont. 2 ac. All in the parish of LUTON, and 'were heretofore parcell or reputed to be parcel of Chilterne Greene'; heretofore in the tenure of Jn. Gillham, now of Edw. Wil- son. Also 8 closes of arable lying together in the parish of LUTON, in the occupn. of Jn. Sibley, cont. 80 ac., all which said (8) closes ' were heretofore parcell or reputed to bee parcell of the said greene called Chilterne greene'. And a parcell of 'wast ground late parcell of the said greene which lyeth at the end of the said greene towards Kempton (Kimpton) and is now used as a Common; and all the wayes and the soyles of the wayes which were heretofore parcell of the said greene and doe lye within betweene or adjoyning to any of the said closes hereinbefore mencioned'. (The sale is stated to be made 'in part of performance of the covenants on the part of the said Francis Crawley to bee kept specifyed in an indent- ure' dated the previous day, and made between the said parties. This deed apparently confirms a mutual agreement as to part of Chiltern Green). (Seals cut off).
