Wm. Knight. Born Clapham, his father's settlement. 19 years earlier apprenticed to John Grundon, Covington, Cambs. Served 5 years of a 7 year term when he and his master agreed to part "before Mr Askham" "there not being Work to employ him". He then worked for short terms with the following until his apprenticeship expired, Thos. Flinders, Gt. Gransden, blacksmith, Nich. Godfrey, Caxton, blacksmith, Jn. Hill St. Pauls, Bedford, blacksmith. For the next three years he worked in different places for short terms and then returned to Jn. Hill and has worked with him and his nephew ever since. Before he parted from his first master, he, Jn. Grundon, had obtained a certificate from St. Pauls to Covington. Married 10 years ago at Haynes; wife's name Patience; 3 chn.
