- TitleInformation of Police Sergeant Thomas Vincent stationed at Potton. He was on duty at Deepdale in the Parish of Potton when he saw several men near the Public House kept by James Piggott. He went to Piggott's back door and found it locked. Piggott opened the door to him and said that he had no men in because it wasn't time yet. Sergeant Vincent looked into both front rooms and the back kitchen. When he asked Piggott to let him into the cellar, Piggott became very abusive and refused to open the cellar door. When Sergeant Vincent opened the stair door he found William Munns, Labourer of Potton concealed behind the door. Thomas Blane, Labourer of Stratford in the Parish of Sandy was further up the stairs. Blane said nothing but Munns became very abusive and and struck Sergeant Vincent in the mouth.. Blane and Munns went away. Sergeant Vincent remained by the cellar door until eventually Piggott opened it. William Norman, Carpenter of Potton was concealed there. Prohibited hours each fined 10/-, Costs 8/6. Assault Munns Fine 10/-, Costs 8/6. Landlord Piggott Fine £5, Costs 8/6, License endorsed.
