- TitleFrom J.B.Denton (writing from 52 Parliament St. London.) to W.T.Nash Subject. Hornett "I do not know that the gentlemen I mentioned have all or either of them been employed against the Great Northern Railway, nor do I know that Mr.Bidwell was ever engaged for the Royston & Hitchin Railway as implied by your note. I do know that he is the agent of the Great Northern Railway and is much employed by the Company, and that he was once upon a time chief counsellor against the Royston & Hitchin Railway and that in the only case against the Company brought before a jury. "The only case I have ever referred to Mr.Bidwell was that of Mr.John Phillips. The fact is you mean to do in this case what is unworthy of an honourable Company and I must submit to such manoeuvres as you are instructed to adopt. Why not give me the names of half a dozen competent men and I will select one - don't cram down my throat one who, like yourself, will be instructed how to act. "If you must and will go to the Board of Trade and I can't help myself, I promise you the case shall lose nothing for want of an earnest agent for the claimant
