    Asylum for Bedfordshire opened on the 27 April 1812. Following the completion of the new Three Counties Hospital at Stotfold in 1860 patients were transferred from the Bedford Asylum. The redundant site at Ampthill Road, Bedford, was sold off for building land and the Asylum pulled down.
