Depositions: William Right, Shelton, labourer 29 March 1675.
2s., a sword and belt, 2 cheeses, 2 leaves and a chine were stolen from his house, and later found at house of John King, together with a spade of Mr. Love and a fork of John Mitchell. King confessed to theft. John King, Shelton. Confesses theft from William Right. Intended to go to London. The Informacon of William Right of Shellton in the county of Bedford labor, taken upon oath before John Neale Esqr one of his Majesties Justices of peace for the countie of Bedford the 29th day of March 1675 Who saith that upon the 28th day of March last past being the Lords day while himselfe and family was at church in the time of divine servce his house was robbed, and that the theefe entred by the doore of his house, which was shutt and as he verily beleiveth was locked, and upon makeing search he found all the things which he lost out of his house in the house and yard of one John King of Shellton aforesaid, that is to say two shillings in money a sword and belt valued at five shillings, two little cheeses a peece of hoggs flesh called a chine and two penny loaves which the said John King confessed to him the said William Wright that he tooke them all out of his house, Also the sd John King did take and carry away a spaid of Mr Loves of Shellton aforesd and also a fork of John Mitchells which was found in his house. The same testifieth William Middleton also upon his oath And further saith not. The Examinacon of John King of Shellton labor. taken the day aforesd Who confesseth that he tooke the sword and belt and those other things out of the house of the said William Right upon the 28th day of this instant being the Lords day, in the time of devine service, and that he tooke the sword and belt with a purpose to walk to London with them And further saith not John Neale
