Letter from George Miller of Wavendon [Buckinghamshire] to John Wynne: Reads- I thought you lent me the money on account, or would have paid it. I suppose you was angry at the letter I wrote Butcher; you was never thought of; it was 3 dirty fellows who know no more of mensuration than of good manners. Your own reason must tell you I would not think of labouring all this while for nothing. What Mr. Wing had from me, it was impossible to form any judgement upon. The whole parish of Crawley is measured. Kitchin has recommended me an assistant who draws extremely fine. In my mensuration of Aspley Field have given entire satisfaction to the commissioners. His instruments: paid of beam-compasses, armed with adjusting screw, cost 3 guineas. Transcript available
