lettered "E"; abstracted by Ashfield & Woodman of Leighton Buzzard, abstracting: THE ROEBUCK AND TWO COTTAGES ADJOINING (I) Copy court roll [Manor of Leighton Buzzard alias Grovebury] of 25-26 Oct 1781 - presentment that Joseph Atkins, late of Leighton Buzzard, cooper, deceased had held cottage called White Horse since divided into 2 dwellings formerly in occupation of Elizabeth Syred, widow, Mary Syred, widow and Joseph Reeve the younger and then one of them called Roebuck late in occupation of Joseph Atkins and the others late in occupation of Joseph Felce and Widow Hack; - death of Joseph Atkins and heriot of one horse impounded at 2/12/6 paid to the Lord's bailiff; - premises surrendered by Joseph Atkins to use of his will of 22 Jun 1780 in which he devised his "copyhold cottages in my own occupation and in the occupation of the said William Drage and one Robert Bull situate, standing and being in Leighton Buzzardwith outhouses, offices, yards, backsides." to his brother-in-law William Drage subject to provisos that: Elizabeth Clarke, who lived with testator, should be allowed to live, rent free, in cottage now in occupation of William Drage for the rest of her life, except for the little shop behind and part of that cottage and the shop or forge nearby; -admission of John Morris by Samuel Davis, his attorney, quitrent 2/6 per annum (III) Copy court roll [Manor of Leighton Buzzard alias Grovebury] of 28-29 Oct 1813 - presentment that on 27 Oct 1813 John Morris the younger of St.Albans [Hertfordshire], gentleman surrendered to Samuel Reeve out of court for 140 (a) tenements in Leighton Buzzard adjoining inn called White Horse, then Roebuck in which John Atkins lived, then William Drage, then Edward Walker, then Benjamin Garside formerly divided into 2 dwellings in occupation of John Felce and Widow Hack the Elizabeth Clarke then Robert Turnham; (b) washhouse and room over (a) in occupation of Benjamin Garside appertaining to Roebuck; (c) part three stall stable adjoining little yard of tenement erected by Benjamin Reeve near where washhouse stood measuring 10 ft 6 in long and 2 ft 10 in broad from loft floor to ground and to be partitioned from other part at expense of Samuel Reeve; (d) piece of ground, way or passage from street in front of tenement late in occupation of Elizabeth Clarke to back door in yard belonging to Roebuck "which said two tenements [referring back to (a)?] are situate on S side of the messuage or tenement called the Roebuck Inn and front west into the Alley called Lindons Alley and which said tenement the said Benjamin Reeve had lately pulled down and on the site or ground thereon the same stood had erected and built 2 tenements thereon and which said site of ground was to contain by admeasurement in length 40 feet and in breadth 25 feet"; (e) small square piece of ground at upper end of yard belonging to Roebuck adjoining the "necessary house" which had been lately inclosed and fenced in by Benjamin Reeve; (f) right of way from Samuel Reeve through gateway of Roebuck to and from street called Jeffs Lane;
