    Appointment and Release and Covenant to Surrender Parties: (i) William Bennett, late of Leighton Buzzard, common brewer, now of Bedford, yeoman; (ii) Samuel Reeve of Leighton Buzzard, common brewer; (iii) David Thomas Willis of Winslow [Buckinghamshire], gentleman Reciting: - conditional surrender of 17 May 1815 by William Bennett of copyhold part of Cross Keys to use of John Goodman to secure 400 loan; - two sums of 300 each remained outstanding to Aurea and Elizabeth Willis on mortgages of 2 Nov 1813 [(XLI) in Z1118/1/1/1] and 19 Feb 1827 [(XLII) in Z1118/1/1/1] but all interest had been paid; - 400 remained outstanding to Grant, Lawford and Exton on mortgage of 8 Apr 1815 [(I) in Z1118/1/21/11] with interest amounting to 292; - 200 remained outstanding to Samuel Hopkins on Mortgage of 6 Dec 1824 [(XXX) in Z1118/1/21/11] with interest amounting to 13; - 300 remained outstanding to Thomas Tims on Mortgage of 23 Sep 1808 [(XII) in Z1118/1/21/11] with interest at 22; - 400 remained outstanding to John Goodman with interest at 39; - (ii) had agreed to purchase real estate of (i) for 2,845 of which 1,990 would be for freehold hereditaments and 840 for copyhold with 15 the purchase price of premises in 5th [(h)]schedule attached to original deed; - (ii) had paid 322 to Thomas Tims; - it was agreed that real estate should be conveyed and covenanted to be surrendered to (ii) subject to outstanding sums of 300, 300, 692, 213 and 439; - (ii) had paid 564 to (1) which, with 322 paid to Thomas Tims and 15 agreed to be retained and several sums outstanding made up the purchase price of 2,845 Operative Part: - (i) conveyed (a)-(e) to and covenanted to surrender (f)-(h) to use of (ii) Habendum: - to (ii) to use of (iii) in trust for (ii) to use of (ii) Property: (a) messuage for some time past divided into 3 tenements formerly in occupation of Thomas Smith, John Emerton and George Reeve, then John Fox, Joseph Stevens and George Reeve, then John Oliver and William Bennett then Samuel Reeve in Leighton Buzzard abuttals: messuage formerly of Oliver Taylor then William Leopard then Prince Webster and others then Michael Lockett and Edward Webster E; messuage formerly of Elizabeth Parrott, spinster, then John Loke, then Elizabeth Loke part W; common street S; (b) little close or pightle of pasture formerly garden ground in occupation of Daniel Reeve, then William Bennett then Samuel Reeve belonging to (a); (c) brewhouse with malthouse, chambers and other buildings adjoining (b) in yard of (a); (d) cottage for some time past known as Duke's Head, formerly divided into 2 dwellings with close, pightle or orchard adjoining of 1 acre in occupation of Susannah How and William Brightwell then Benjamin Sear, John King and Thomas Culverhouse successively, then John Cook, in Heath, Leighton Buzzard abutting: messuage formerly of Charles Vaux then Hon.Charles Leigh then Rev.Thomas Leigh then Chandos Leigh S; cottage of Francis Tompkins then Thomas Fountain then [blank] N; street W; (e) yard and backside behind Middle Row, Leighton Buzzard with garden or orchard at N end of yard with gateway and gates next to the street in occupation of Edward Osmond and John Marshall, then Woodell Iredale and John Layton then Thomas Iredale, Thomas Warner and James Sharpe successively then Henry Samuel and William Drage; (f) cottage in Middle Row, Leighton Buzzard formerly of John Marshall for many years then divided into 2 tenements (one for a long time past used as an inn called Cross Keys) in occupation of William King and James Sharpe then Henry Samuel and William Drage; (g) toft on which part of cottages in (f) used to stand in occupation of William Flemons, miller, then John Layton, gardener, then bounded out by stones from Market Place near Cross; (h) piece of land in Leighton Buzzard at upper end of (b) formerly of Ann Roberts then James Partridge then John Fox then William Bennett Witnesses: - David Lee Willis; - Frederick Willis
