  • Scope and Content
    by i) to ii) of all that piece of ground near to the Church in the parish of Cranfield, being the site of two cottages with an orchard and garden (1r. 10p) adjoining Premises purchased by i) from Thomas and Sarah Felce, and conveyed to him by deed dated 27 April 1864. i) has erected buildings on the site, and has placed on them the inscription "These schools set apart for ever for the use of this Parish and dedicated as a humble offering to Almighty God and his Church, were built in pious remembrance of a Father by his Son, Anno Domini 1865". To hold to ii) on trust for George Gardner Harter (Rector of Cranfield) and William Faldor and George Coleman (Churchwardens) and their successors, to be used as Schools for poor persons of Cranfield and for the residence of the schoolmaster and schoolmistress, upon the following terms: - a) Schools to be conducted in conformity with the principles of the United Church of England and Ireland - b) to be under the management of the Rector of the parish, and of the owner of Cranfield Court Estate - c) School masters to be appointed and dismissed by the managers - d) Managers to have power to make regulations concerning the use of school buildings as a Parish Library and Reading Room or for purposes of education and religious welfare of Inhabitants of the parish - e) Cases of dispute concerning the management of the schools to be submitted to the Bishop, whose decision shall be conclusive Endorsed: Note of enrollment in Chancery, 9 January 1866 [Close Roll, Chancery, 1866, Part 4, No.19] Signatures: George Gardner Harter, Wm.
