    Property - a) messuage built by Richard Leach in Bedford St Paul, fronting north on Mill Lane with kitchen and garden belonging or adjoining, formerly occ by Margaret Denis, widow and lately occ by Mr Benjamin Palmer and now by Mrs Sarah Thong b) another messuage built by Richard Leach in Bedford St Paul fronting north on Mill Lane with kitchen and garden to (a) "belonging or adjoining", formerly occ by Richard Cobb Collett, Gent, now Mr William Wagstaff, which premises were sold to Richard Leach by Robert White and Mary his wife and Thomas White and Mary his wife 1&2 [month illegible] 1765 and by [illegible] and Sarah his wife [illegible] 1766 Recites - Lease and release [loan] 1st February [year illegible] for 630 between Richard Leach and John Rogers "long since past", - Fine 1780 on 4 messuages 2 cottages 4 gardens and 1 rood of land in Bedford St Paul & St Cuthbert, the 630 not having been repaid as provided - death of John Rogers, and his will 30 July 1788 - Inquisition 27 March 1790 at the Sheriff's Office, Took's Court, Cursitor Street, Middlesex in which Richard Leach was found to owe 4717-2s-8d in money he'd received which was meant for the king, and for stamped vellum parchment and paper consigned to him - Writ of Extent 29 March 1790 directing the Sherrif of Bedfordshire to seize and hold Richard Leach's property until the debt was paid - Writ of Extent 20 April 1790 stating the property had been seised - Order of the Court of Exchequer 13 July 1793 that the premises should be sold for the best price available - report by the deputy Remembrancer 15 November 1793 certifying that Richard Leach's estates in Bedford and Nether and Upper Dean had been sold in lots on 29th September, and that (3) had successfully bid for lot 1 for 210 and lot 2 for 230, and that the mortgage repayment was still due to (2) from Richard Leach's estate - that 750 had been raised by the sale of all the estates, and the mortgage was repaid from it Declaration by Richard Leach and (2) that they have not encumbered Signed by William Browne for Joseph and Samuel Rogers by virtue of a Letter of Attorney Witnessed by Jn. Willey [or Miller?], Carrey St, London and B Bonfield of the Kings Remembrancer's Office [for Francis Ingram], Theed Pearse of Bedford and William H Pyne, Park St, Grosvenor Square [for Richard Leach and Frances his wife], Ja: Houghton [for Joseph and Samuel Rogers via William Browne] 4 pp parchment, very dirty and mouse-eaten
