- TitleBrickdale to Grantham, Madrid Asks Grantham's protection in action against Stephen Polier, on behalf Messrs. Kender Mason and Arthur Jones of London. Polier laid an attachment for 36,000 dollars of these latter, wrongly believing this sum to be his due as a quarter of the profits of certain voyages to the coast of Guinea, and thence to Puerto Rico, which in fact were only just begun. Hopes Grantham will present true account to the King, as have lost £20,000, and can ill bear the cost of litigation. Hopes Grantham will intercede with the Ministry of War, "to obtain Redress, at least, if not chastisement for that villain Polier". Rec'd 3 August 1773: No date or address [L 30/14/279/3-4 Lord North supts. Mason and Jones in letter to Grantham.
