  • Title
Grantham, Madrid to Achmet, Dublin [copy letter] Irish linens well received in Spain; would be preferred to French, German, etc. if sold at the same price. Linens from north of Ireland imported via London, where opulent men provide finance for the manufacturers. If some gentleman of zeal would organise regular exports from Ireland direct to Spain these should be cheaper. Also, the English suppliers will not send the cheaper linens unless an equal quantity of the dearer ones are taken as well. Spaniards might pay more for the cheaper ones if not obliged to take the others too. Linens of fine Antrim bleach preferred.
